Lisa Tuvalo grew up in the Kensington and Wheaton area. She attended Albert Einstein High School and the University of Maryland, College Park, where she received a B.S. in Biochemistry and a B.A. in British and American Literature. She worked at a cell culture lab for three years, where she extracted DNA from blood cells. Then, she lived in New York City for almost 15 years. After a brief stint in publishing as a manuscript editor, she worked nights as a proofreader/copy editor at a major law firm. During her free time, she performed with an improv group at the New York Comedy Club and off-off Broadway. She pursued her passion in film and television at the School of Visual Arts, where she wrote, directed and edited 11 short films. During her free time, she likes to dance, exercise, go to the movies, read, swim (during the summer time) and ice skate (during the winter). She enjoys being back in her hometown and meeting all of the interesting people that make up Kensington.
