Founding Farmers to Release Cookbook in Fall 2013

Chevy Chase Housing Market: What Sold in November?

In October, 79 houses (including condominiums) were for sale in Chevy Chase—up 16.2 percent from September and down 27.5 percent from October 2011, Redfin.com reported.

In October, 79 houses (including condominiums) were for sale in the Chevy Chase ZIP code 20815—up 16.2 percent from September and down 27.5 percent from October 2011, Redfin.com reported. The median list price for 20815 properties in October was $1,195,000—up 3 percent from September and up 44 percent from October 2011, Redfin.com added. But, Redfin.com reported, only 27 houses sold in October—the same as in September and down 10 percent from October 2011. Saving Monty

Sweet Monty was saved by a local teen from life on the streets and is looking for his new family.

Monty is a true love bug. He’s a sweet, affectionate and playful pit-mix who just wants to be loved and be part of a family. He’s a handsome boy who’s only a year old and weighs in at about 60 pounds. His body is still playing catch-up with his big, blocky head, and he has a big, warm bully smile that lights up when he sees you.  Monty’s story is one that demonstrates the best and worst in people. He was found running free in an abandoned parking lot near a major highway by Lauren Bradford, a Good Samaritan and local senior at Fairfax High School. Lauren’s parents were away for the weekend, and she took it upon herself to take this sweet pup in, canvass the local neighborhoods and post filers and ads on Craigslist in hopes of finding Monty…

This fall, a Thos. Somerville bath and kitchen showroom will move into the former Lemon Twist location next to Manoli Canoli in Chevy Chase Lake.

Marylanders may request that utility companies defer installing smart meters in their homes or businesses, pending a decision by the PSC on whether customers will be able to opt out of receiving the smart meters.

In a small score for those against the installation of smart meters in their homes, the Maryland Public Service Commission decided Thursday that Marylanders may request utility companies defer the installation of smart meter devices in their homes or businesses, pending a final decision by the PSC on whether customers may opt out of receiving smart meters. "The [PSC]’s order is effective immediately and affects customers in the Baltimore Gas & Electric, Potomac Electric Power Company [Pepco] and Delmarva Power service territories," according to a PSC statement.
