Great Escape: Cardio Core Class

Each week, we'll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier.

In the hustle of parenting, it’s important to find time for yourself. You’re a stay-at-home parent and you need a break from laundry, cleaning, chores, and cooking but your free time is limited to when the kids are at school. What can you do to pursue your hobbies and enrich your life? Burn some serious calories and firm your tummy at a Cardio Core Class. Classes include cardio bursts, core work, flexibility exercises and yoga/pilates stretching.  Bring a mat or towel and water or even your kids (children of all ages are always welcome). Classes cost $72 for eight sessions or just drop in for $10. Classes are held Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at Temple Emanuel. Call 240-432-4664 or email bootiecamp@hotmail.com for space availability.

Great Escape: Dancing in the Park

Each week, we'll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier.

In the hustle and bustle of parenting, it’s important to find time for yourself.  Your teens are holding a car wash at the high school Saturday. The grandparents volunteered to take the younger children to a movie Sunday afternoon. Your  tweens take tap on Wednesday evening. With the kids out of the house, it’s your time. Take it. Put on your dancing shoes and strut your stuff at the renovated Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo. Dances take place nightly from Thursday through Sunday accompanied by live music. Beginners are welcome and dances include a pre-dance introductory lesson. Cost varies from $5-20 and you buy your tickets at the door. Learn to salsa, swing, waltz, and square dance. For a complete schedule, visit the park's website.

I love to knit at Brookside Gardens in the "Fragrant Garden" or the "Rose Garden." There are plenty of benches to choose from, friendly faces walking through and the lovely, lovely flowers. That's a wonderful place to knit. Good knitting, Tina Feld   more ›
