Donate a toy at Mussel Bar and get a free chocolate treat.
In honor of 12/12/12, Bethesda Row's Mussel Bar & Grille is hosting a toy drive for Hurricane Sandy relief. Those who drop off an unwrapped toy at the Bethesda Row eatery today will be rewarded with a free chocolate treat to mark National Cocoa Day -- triple chocolate gateau with Young's Chocolate Stout Creme Anglaise and vanilla ice cream. Mussel Bar owner Robert Wiedmaier will collect toys for children in New Jersey displaced by Hurricane Sandy on behalf of his employees at the Mussel Bar & Grille location in Atlantic City, NJ. Robert Wiedmaier's downtown Bethesda eatery has changed its name, Bethesda Magazine's Table Talk blog reports.
Bethesda's Mussel Bar has changed its name after restaurant reps say it may have been keeping away diners who aren't fans of mussels, Bethesda Magazine's Table Talk blog reported. The new name -- "Mussel Bar & Grille" -- indicates the Bethesda Row eatery serves up more than mollusks and operates as a restaurant and not just a bar, according to the report. Though mussels are a draw, they make up only about six or seven of the approximately 30 menu items at the restaurant, Frank Shull, chief operating officer and partner in Robert Wiedmaier’s RW Restaurant Group, told Table Talk. Five long-time employees of chef Robert Wiedmaier become partners in his latest restaurant, Capital Business reports.
When chef Robert Wiedmaier opened his newest restaurant, Wildwood Kitchen, he made five of his long-time employees part-owners, The Washington Post's Capital Business blog reports. Wiedmaier drew key staff from his Mussel Bar in Bethesda and the popular Brasserie Beck and Marcel’s in Washington, DC, to become partners in his latest venture. When Wildwood Kitchen opened this month in Bethesda’s Wildwood Shopping Center, the five part-owners helped oversee the launch, according to the report. Famed chef Robert Wiedmaier's much-anticipated new restaurant, Wildwood Kitchen, is set for a Nov. 17 opening in Bethesda's Wildwood Shopping Center, Washingtonian reports. The menu will be small—featuring eight entrees and an equal number of appetizers, Washingtonian reports. The space will seat 55, along with a bar that will fit about 15. The chef, also behind Marcel’s, Brasserie Beck and Bethesda's Mussel Bar, is going "old-school" for Wildwood Kitchen—no online reservations or televisions, according to the report. Wiedmaier's latest restaurant will feature “south of France Mediterranean cuisine—we’re going very, very healthy on this menu,” he told Bethesda Magazine's Table Talk blog in February.
