Bethesda Crime Stats: Property Crimes Down; Robberies, Assaults Up

More robberies and assaults have been reported YTD in 2012 than this time last year, according to crime statistics provided by Montgomery County Police's second district commander.

More robberies and assaults have been reported in Mongomery County police's second district through the end of September in 2012 than at the same time last year, according to recent crime statistics. However, property crimes—including residential burglaries, car thefts and thefts from autos—are on the decline, according to statistics provided by second district Commander Capt. David Falcinelli. The second district includes Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and portions of southern Rockville and Kensington. During the first three quarters of 2012, 47 robberies have been reported in the second district. Wheaton Crime: Multiple Armed Robberies

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Montgomery County police have released the latest crime report for the Fourth District, from Oct. 15-22. The list published here is not comprehensive, but rather selects incidents that occurred in or near Wheaton.  An armed robbery occurred in the 2900 block of Kingswell Drive in Wheaton on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 2:50 p.m. The suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. A strong-arm robbery occurred in the area of Valleywood Drive and Henderson Road in Wheaton on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 9:00 a.m.  The suspects assaulted the victim and removed property.  An armed robbery occurred in the 11200 block of Grandview Ave. in Silver Spring on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 9:47 p.m.  The suspects threatened the victims with a weapon and …

Surveillance Photos Released Of Suspected Bethesda Burglars

Police are asking anyone with information about the location or identities of the men pictured to contact them.

Montgomery County Police have released surveillance photographs of suspects they believe may be responsible for Bethesda burglaries in August and October of 2011. Police believe the same suspect is responsible for two burglaries, both of which happened in the overnight hours between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20, 2011, in the 7300 block of Longwood Drive and the 8600 block of Beech Tree Road. They believe another suspect is responsible for two daytime burglaries, one on August 25, 2011 in the 7800 block of Glenbrook Road, and another on August 26, 2011 in the 10200 block of Fleming Avenue in North Bethesda. Second District Sees Uptick In Residential Burglaries

24 burglaries in December and 15 in January reported in Bethesda, North Bethesda and Chevy Chase areas, according to Montgomery County police.

A rash of residential burglaries has struck the Bethesda, Chevy Chase and North Bethesda areas in December and January, according to a recent crime alert released by Montgomery County police. 24 burglaries were reported in the second district in December and 15 had been reported in January as of Jan. 5, according to the alert, sent out to residents by Dana Stroman, a county police community services officer. Seven of the burglaries may be related to a recent burglary spike in the Town of Chevy Chase, and three other burglary trends are either new or have spilled over from other districts, according to Stroman.
