Lunchbox will be the third eatery in the Chevy Chase Pavilion with a menu by celebrity chef Bryan Voltaggio.
The newly-renovated Chevy Chase Pavilion is set to get a third eatery with a menu by celebrity chef Bryan Voltaggio, who will open a second location of Lunchbox—a popular sandwich shop in Frederick, MD—in the Chevy Chase shopping center later this year, Washingtonian reported. "Lunchbox takes the fresh, seasonal ingredients ... and transforms them into gourmet sandwiches, salads, soups and desserts," the restaurant's website states. The Frederick location is a "casual dining venue [that] seats 30 people comfortably for lunch only," and restaurant patrons may dine in or carry out. Menu options include grilled cheese, pastrami and meatloaf sandwiches, a variety of salads and soups, cookies and brownies. Lunchbox will join Voltaggio's other …

PoPville, citing "a good source," reported that the shuttered Friendship Heights coffee and tea shop could become Le Pain Quotidien.
The former storefront of Tynan Coffee and Tea in Friendship Heights could become home to a branch of Le Pain Quotidien, Prince of Petworth reported on PoPville, citing "a good source." Tynan Coffee and Tea recently closed, Chevy Chase Patch reported. Its storefront anchored the southern arm of the plaza at The Shops at Wisconsin Place. Next door is the former storefront for Adolfo Dominguez, a clothing boutique. Patch readers made several great suggestions as to what might work well in the empty space. Suggestions included: an ethnic and/or mid-price-range restaurant, a craft beer or cocktail bar and an ice cream parlor. What would you like to see in the old Tynan space in Friendship Heights? Tell us in the comments.
Bryan Voltaggio's Chevy Chase restaurant now serves lunch as well as dinner, seven days a week, but reservations still are recommended for both meals.
Range isn't just a dinner destination anymore. Starting this week, Range—celebrity chef Bryan Voltaggio's new restaurant, which opened in the Chevy Chase Pavilion last December—is open for lunch, too. Reservations still are recommended, and may be made online at www.voltrange.com or by calling Range at 202-803-8020, according to a restaurant news statement. The lunch menu is mostly the same as the dinner menu, with the addition of a burger and a $30 set-price lunch option, according to the restaurant. Range now is open Sundays through Thursdays, from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays, from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., at the newly renovated Chevy Chase Pavilion (5335 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington, DC). Range's menu is meat-…

The neighboring Friendship Heights storefronts that used to house Tynan Coffee and Tea and clothing boutique Adolfo Dominguez are both vacant, leaving the south side of the Wisconsin Place plaza looking a little lifeless.
Friendship Heights is down another business: Tynan Coffee and Tea, which anchored the southern arm of the plaza at The Shops at Wisconsin Place. Now, that part of the plaza seems a little desolate, with all of Tynan's outdoor chairs and tables cleared away, and the tall windows of the corner storefront dark. Your Chevy Chase Patch editor enjoyed sitting at the tables behind the windows, clacking away on the computer while looking up to check on Chevy Chase (and admiring the parade of well-dressed pups passing by). The coffee, tea and sandwich shop was closed by last Friday. A sign hung in the window thanking Tynan customers for three years of patronage, and reminding them of Tynan's two other DC-area locations: at 1400 Irving St. NW, …

Restaurants and bakeshops work together to offer residents more options for eating out.
Step out of the Friendship Heights Metro station in Chevy Chase and you will find a variety of familiar restaurants such as The Cheesecake Factory, Maggiano’s Little Italy and P.F. Chang’s. These establishments include Frosting, A Cupcakery (1 Wisconsin Circle), which sells 6- and 8-inch cakes and Illy coffee and espresso along with the bakeshop's signature cupcakes. Husband-and-wife team Michelle Snow Bracken and Todd Bracken, along with Michelle Snow Bracken’s mother Ann Snow, opened the store in 2010. Michelle Snow Bracken had the desire to turn her baking hobby into a business, …

While the restaurant's opening date is not yet set, patrons may reserve a spot for a "pop-in preview" on Dec. 15, 16 or 17, The Post reported. (Make reservations via the restaurant's website.) The restaurant once was scheduled to open in mid-September, but that date was pushed back to mid-November, Voltaggio’s publicist Melissa McCart told Bethesda Magazine in August. Now, it's likely to open in mid-December. At Range, the focus will be on meat. Voltaggio plans to offer many small portions of various meat dishes, encouraging diners to try more than one type…
