Local Duo Playing Free Concert Tonight

Two-time Grammy winners Cathy and Marcy will perform in Silver Spring.

Tonight, Rock Creek Hills folk duo Cathy and Marcy will play a family-oriented outdoor concert at Silver Plaza in downtown Silver Spring. "What we do is a very interactive family concert," said Cathy Fink, one half of the duo. "We want people singing with us, yodeling with us. We think of music as an interactive art, not a passive activity." Fink, along with Marcy Marxer, has won two Grammy awards for children's music, and the two have been nominated 14 times. Tonight, they'll draw from their broad musical repertoire, incorporating banjos, guitars, mandolins, ukuleles and washboards, Fink said. "Our goal is: Let's see how much fun we can have," she said. The outdoor show starts at 6:30 p.m.
