B-CC Field Hockey Coach Amy Wood Steps Down

Coach Wood guided the team to 10 state championships and 16 state tournament appearances, "The Gazette" reported.

After 19 highly successful seasons running Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School's field hockey team, Coach Amy Wood is stepping down. During her time with the team, the team logged 10 state championships and 16 state tournament appearances, The Gazette reported, adding that Wood is leaving her coaching position to pursue a doctorate degree in pharmacy. Wood's career record is 277-44-9, and she was named All-Met Coach of the Year in 1994 and 2004, The Gazette added. Read more about Wood's departure on The Gazette.

Einstein Field Hockey Opens Playoffs Tuesday

B-CC, Walter Johnson and Holy Cross also ready for postseason.

The Albert Einstein High School field hockey team has been named the eighth seed in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association 3A West playoff bracket, and will open the single-elimination tournament at home against ninth-seeded Tuscarora on Tuesday. The winner of that game will face a daunting challenge in traveling to Carroll County to play first-seeded Westminster in the second round on Thursday. The Titans won the Montgomery County 3A/2A East regular season championship in former Rockville coach Amanda Gordon's first season with the school, posting a perfect 3-0 record within the conference. B-CC topped Dulaney 2-1 Monday to advance to the 4A State Final. The championship will be decided Friday at 4 p.m., as the Barons will take on Severna Park at Washington College in Chestertown.   more ›
