Foodie News: Restaurant Weeks, New Cigar Lounge, Bethesda Favorites Make a Comeback

Foodie and restaurant news from around Montgomery County and adjacent Washington, DC, neighborhoods.

This week, locals ramp up for restaurant weeks, a new cigar lounge and two Bethesda staples announce the reopening of their doors. The area’s restaurant weeks are nigh, exciting many a local with the prospect of fancy meals at a third of the price. Over 200 DC-area restaurants will participate in Washington’s Restaurant Week – this year taking place Feb. 4-10. It’s a few weeks down the road, but DC Restaurant Week aficionados know that now is the time to start planning. Over 200 DC-area restaurants will participate in Washington’s Restaurant Week – this year taking place Feb. 4-10. With three-course meals costing $20.13 at lunch and $35.13 for dinner, restaurant week gives Washington diners a chance to sample some of the area’s finest restaurants for a fraction of the cost. We’ve listed here a few of the local participants around Montgomery County. There are no participants in Wheaton or Kensington, but you can find some in nearby Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Rockville. Thank Goodness for Slow Summer Days and D.C. Restaurant Week

What restaurant bargains will you take advantage of?

D.C. Restaurant Week takes you through most of the summer doldrums -- all the way to Sunday, Aug. 19. If you're going just over the border or all the way to Georgetown, dozens of eateries have deals throughout the Washington metropolitan area. The familiar prix-fixe menus will be offered at affordable rates: $20.12 for lunch and $35.12 for dinner for a three-course meal (excluding beverage, tax and gratuity).
