The county executive will try to attract Indian biotechnology companies to Montgomery County.
County Executive Isiah Leggett will pitch Montgomery County as the place for biotechnology when he accompanies a Maryland delegation to India on a six-day trade mission beginning Saturday. “The objective here is to try to make certain, in this global, competitive arena, that people understand what Maryland has to offer and what Montgomery County has to offer,” Leggett (D) said in a telephone interview on Wednesday. Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett will hold another “Virtual Town Hall Meeting” from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the county announced in a news release. Residents can enter questions before or during the live online discussion. Selected questions will be answered during the discussion. Questions and answers will be available for viewing both during and after the discussion. To submit a question and to view transcripts of past virtual town hall meetings, click here. Residents and businesses can offer feedback on Pepco’s service and impacts of outages.
Montgomery County has extended the deadline for online Pepco feedback surveys. A group of community leaders appointed by County Executive Isiah Leggett called the Pepco Work Group is conducting the surveys. Two different surveys are offered, one for businesses, another for residential customers. A press release about the extended deadline, which was supposed to be today, read “The survey is designed to obtain information on how the public views Pepco’s service, the extent to which customers have experienced outages, the economic impact of those outages and some insight as to what additional costs customers would be willing to incur in exchange for improved service.” The group is investigating the reliability of Pepco’s service in the …

The 25th anniversary of County Executive’s event goes to benefit the arts & humanities in the county.
The unusually cold temperatures didn't stop arts supporters from "Steppin' Out" Sunday evening for the Montgomery County Executive's Ball for the Arts & Humanities. More than 700 guests dressed in "creative" black tie poured into the Rockville Hilton atrium to dine, dance and bid on silent auction items while raising funds for county arts. "Steppin' Out," this year's theme, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the annual fundraising gala, which aids county nonprofit arts and humanities organizations. Net proceeds from the ball provide grants for theater, music, dance, art, arts education and humanities program to outlets all around the county, including many in Silver Spring.
