In 1976, Brenner started studying Asian medicine at The College of Traditional Acupuncture in England. There she earned a license in acupuncture, and a bachelor and master degree. Next came a certificate in Chinese Herbal Medicine. This was followed with studies in Japanese acupuncture, and Toyohari and Japanese pediatric acupuncture.
In addition to her practice, Brenner is on research panels at the Office of Complementary and Alternative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health and at Beth Israel/Harvard Medical School.
Brenner offers classes and seminars to practicing acupuncturists. The subjects focus on classical medical and philosophical texts. Japanese acupuncture and Manaka Extraordinary Vessels Treatment seminars are planned. The Manaka seminar is approved for NCCAOM PDA credits.
