I'm not sure why people are complaining, I had the ruben and it was pretty darned good. The service was friendly and they let me try different soups (and didn't get mad when I chose a sandwich instead of soup). It's a great option for locals looking for quick, good food.

I live in VA and whenever I am in the Kensington/Bethesda MD area I make it a point to stop in the Old Town Market. The Butte sandwich and black lentil soup are my absolute favorites. I have even taken my children there and my daughter loves their Italian and my boys gravitate to the meatball sub.Great food & great place!!

I am so excited that I can finally pick up my favorite beer with great Artisenal bread and the best soup in town. My favorite is the black lentil double smoked bacon with red onion. Thanks Old Town Market for being one of my go to places!

Thanks for your continued support !!!!!

I travel to DC often from New England and never miss an opportunity to visit Old Town Market in beautiful historic Kensington to enjoy their soup of the day and an assortment of freshly "made from scratch" muffins. A friend of mine from Sarasota, Florida recently shared that they do the same when visiting Kensington. The service is friendly, the market is modern and spotless and the food will not disappoint! On my last trip, I picked up a bottle of
their Apothic Red California wine to go with the
Susie's Special Sandwich of turkey with her homemade chutney and a container of Mulligatawny Soup. But it's always hard to choose, there is such a wonderful selection. Enjoy!

I have both gluten and dairy allergies, so I was so happy to find that Old Town Market offered soy lattes AND gluten and dairy free muffins. The muffin was utterly scrumptious. The owner (who was super friendly and nice, contrary what other posters experienced), told me her husband does all the baking from scratch, and that he is always working on new recipes. I also picked up some gluten free soup for dinner, which my family loved. This place is a gem!

Old Town Market responded:

So glad you like our gluten free foods!

Recently, I visited the Old Town Market and had a wonderful experience. Friendly staff and an awesome Reuben sandwich! I returned to the market for a perfectly made latte and piece of scrumptious Italian orange almond olive oil cake...talk about a perfect combination! I understand from the owner that they will be stocking specialty wines and beers in the near future. They also support local businesses by buying meat and dairy products locally. Give this market a try for upscale sandwiches and wholesome, on-site baked treats!

Sandra,
I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm very surprise to hear that someone else had a similar experience. So much for customer service. Sorry about the spelling, I meant to say sandwiches* and customers* wrote this in rush.

I agree with you Perri, I too had an experience like this I was treated very rudly and when i asked to speak to the manager about my situation i was in shock to find out that the person i was having this confrontation with was not only the manager but the owner! That too was the last time i stepped foot in there.
