Kensington Resident Helps Derecho Victims in W. Virginia

A Kensington man organized a food drive that helped West Virginia residents devasted by June 29's "derecho" storm.

James Mollenauer collected six tons of food and water from his neighbors Montgomery County residents and delivered the goods to Oak Hill Lewis Christian Center in Fayette County, WV Saturday, according to

Mollenauer got help from fellow church members and began the collection July 12 in the church's parking lot, the church's Facebook page stated. Members and residents were asked to "fill the truck" with food.

He got food drive idea from watching TV coverage of storm damage, The Gazette reported.
