PHOTOS: A Taste of Fair Fare

Join Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village Patch as they sample the food at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Wednesday afternoon.

The list of food at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair is mighty long, but we hope to try them all.

Follow Patch Wednesday afternoon as Gaithersburg's Greg Cohen and Montgomery Village's Sebastian Montes sample the fare at the fair. The list of available food includes, according to the fair website:

Barbeque, Gyros, Pizza, Grilled Cheese, Roasted Corn, Italian Sausage & Peppers, Latin Food, International Asian Cuisine, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Taco Salad, Curds, Fudge Puppie Waffles, Fried Chicken, Fried Fish, Shrimp, Crabcakes, Ribs, BBQ Nachos, Chili Cheese Fries, Lemonade, Funnel Cakes, Snow Cones, Soft Pretzels, Roasted Nuts, French Fries, Kettle Corn, Dippin' Dots, Fudge, Cotton Candy, Root Beer Floats, Specialty Apples, Smoothies, Italian Ice, Deep Fried Oreos, Milkshakes, Hand-Dipped Ice Cream, Cobbler.

We'll be updating this post throughout the afternoon with pictures of the food, where you can get it and how much it costs.

If you've already sampled the fair goodies, tell us in the comments what you like and where to get it or what you didn't like so we can avoid it. You can also add your own pictures of food from the fair to the gallery.

Follow Greg (@gburgpatch) and Sebastian (@MGVillagePatch) on Twitter for updates as they go and look out for a video on Thursday from their food-eating adventure.

What's the best and worst food you've eaten at the Montgomery County Fair? Tell us in the comments. Taken pictures of any food at the fair? Add it to the gallery! If you haven't yet been, what food from the list should we try?

I went last light. It was fun, but I have to say that my milkshake looked and tasted a lot more like a giant cup of soft serve...

You were lucky to get a milkshake. The place that had them, their fridge or something had broken down when we went on Sunday. I do regret not getting a chance to try the cheese cake on a stick, lol.

The good food is at the other end of the fair, not in the carnival section. Get a grilled cheese from the Big Cheese, a root beer float from the Dairy Bar, a piece of cake outside the 4H building, or BBQ beef from the booth across from Old MacDonald's barn!

We just wrapped up. Let's just say I don't feel too hot. My favorite item was the bbq pulled pork sandwich from Branded '72.

Greg - you were a trooper...! At least you didn't have to encounter the fried butter sticks I hear they do at state or county fairs in the Midwest.
