According to Parade Coordinator Kara Sherrill, attendees can expect the same amount of fun as in years past. More than 60 groups will march in the parade, including a couple of new ones, Sherrill said.

The parade will begin at the intersection of St. Paul Street and Plyers Mill Road and move south along Connecticut Avenue. Then it will move east along Baltimore Street, up Carroll, back down Montgomery Avenue, across Kent, up Kensington Parkway and finally will end at Howard and Fawcett. The grandstand will be located along Kensington Parkway.

Following the parade, you can enjoy a festival with food, games and fun in the parking lot of town hall at 3710 Mitchell Street, Sherrill said. This is a new location from years past.

Sherrill said roads will be closed starting at 9 a.m., so both locals and other area residents wanting to attend the parade should find street parking before those hours or walk from a nearby shopping center.

Parade participants may hand out items to guests, however, attendees should BYOF (bring your own flags) and chairs to the parade.

Although the weather forecast is weary for Labor Day, Sherrill said the event will happen rain or shine. In years past they've seen anywhere from 500 to 800 attendees, so she hopes for the same turnout.
