American Legion Baseball Returns to Chevy Chase, Bethesda
American Legion Baseball Post 105, based in Bethesda, returns this season, after a two-year hiatus, with players from local high schools.
Bethesda Post 105 is once again back in the ranks of American Legion Baseball in Montgomery County with its first game scheduled Tuesday night, May 31, against Gaithersburg Post 104 at Kelley Park in Gaithersburg.
For the past two years, Bethesda 105, once one of the county's American Legion Baseball powerhouses, has been unable to field a team because of lack of players.
Thanks to the efforts of baseball coach John Schmidt and former Post 105 manager Mike Naas, the team is back in action this summer, and will play a 27-game regular season schedule running through July 14.

"We've been able to get a pretty good turnout this year and we've put together what looks like a pretty good squad," Schmidt said in a telephone interview Monday evening.
The B-CC coach and former baseball player at Blake High School and Catholic University agreed to coach the Legion team after approaching Naas and other Legion officials in the county in an attempt to get more top-flight playing experience for his players at B-CC.
