This is the first of three book club events planned for the school year, and Starr has said that the discussions give him a chance to reach out to the schools' community, students and staff.

"The book clubs will provide a less formal way for us to have a conversation about education and will provide an opportunity for me to share some of my educational philosophy," Starr said in a statement. "I’m looking forward to a great conversation."

In the book, Dweck theorizes that success is dictated not just by skills and talents, but by how people approach and view them. People with a fixed mindset see their abilities as unchanging traits, Dweck writes, while those with a growth mindset believe they can improve themselves through work and education.

If you'd like to be in the audience for the discussion, RSVP to Pio@McpsMd.org.
