Montgomery County Back-to-School Bus Guide

Find out everything you need to know about how to find your bus route this year.

Getting ready for school in the morning is always hectic—lunches need to be packed, outfits picked out, breakfast served—all in time to get your kids on the bus.

So amidst all the chaos, knowing which bus stop to go to and when is essential. 

In Montgomery County, bus transportation is provided to elementary school students who live further than 1 mile from the school, middle school students who live further than 1.5 miles from the school and high school students who live more than 2 miles from the school.

Parents should help their children remember their bus route numbers, which are located in the windows on the left and right sides of the bus, near the front. 

According to the county, students should arrive at their bus stop about five minutes early.

If the bus has not come after 20 minutes, or if it is a snowy or icy morning, parents can call their designated bus depot (Bethesda, Clarksburg, Randolph, Shady Grove North, Shady Grove South or West Farm) to find out the length of the delay.
