Historic Preservation Strategies

Bring your supper- drinks and dessert will be served; no fee or registration required; sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County

Join us to hear Rollin Stanley, Director of the Montgomery County Planning Department, speak about his experience applying historic preservation strategies to restore housing in impoverished neighborhoods.  Before moving to Montgomery County in 2008, Mr. Stanley served as the Director of Planning and Urban Design for five years in St. Louis, Missouri.  During that time, Mr. Stanley and the mayor of St. Louis created thousands of new housing units in abandoned, old warehouse buildings.  Assistance came from historic preservation designations and tax credits.  Mr. Stanley will explore incentives for historic preservation, in addition to possible tax credits that could be applied to Montgomery County’s historic preservation efforts.  He presented this talk originally at the National Building Museum.
