Town Council Nomination Deadline Nears

Monday, May 9 is the last day to submit a nomination.

Town council elections are nearing, as is the deadline to submit a nomination.

Every year, two positions expire in June. Councilmembers Mackie Barch and Mary Donatelli will be up for re-election, if they choose to run.

A person may be nominated by filing a certificate of nomination at the Town Hall. Interested people must file the certificate by 4 p.m. on Monday, May 9.

In order to vote in the election, you must be a Kensington resident within the corporate limits of the town for thirty days and registered in accordance with the Town Charter. Additionally, you must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old.

Residents must be registered with the county with a town address. If you choose not to register with the county, visit the town hall building from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to register. You must register by May 31 at 4 p.m. to vote in the upcoming election.

The election will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on June 6, 2011 in the Town Hall.
