'Kids Ride Free’ Program to Continue Through Fiscal Year 2012

Montgomery County Council reinstated the 'Kids Ride Free' program for student public bus riders.

The Montgomery County Council reinstated the "Kids Ride Free" program for the 2012 fiscal year, which will allow students to use Metrobus and Ride On service for free.

Students will be able to ride Metrobus and Ride On buses within Montgomery County for free from 2 to 7 p.m. on weekdays.

During Fiscal Year 2011, the program had been suspended, but Councilmember Nancy Navarro made the program a top priority when working on the budget. The county's budget will be formally adopted—including funding of "Kids Ride Free"—on Thursday, May 26.
