Gov. O'Malley Appears in Marriage Equality Video

Clip is the first in a series of advocacy videos.

Gov. Martin O'Malley is featured in the first of Marylanders for Marriage Equality's web videos, calling for the passage of a same-sex marriage bill in the state.

"The legislation we plan to introduce in 2012 legislative session will protect religious freedom and equality of marital rights under the law," O'Malley says in the video.

Over the summer, proponents of the bill, including Kensingon Sen. Rich Madaleno,  to the effort, much as New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo did in June. O'Malley has since announced his plans to in the upcoming session.

In New York, advocates released a series of similar web videos, featuring the likes of Larry King, Russell Simmons and Barbara Bush.

Marylanders for Marriage Equality plans to release a series of web videos in addition to phone-banking, letter-writing and handing out postcards, according to a news release.
