Get Rid of Old Prescription Drugs

Properly dispose of old medication on April 30.

This Saturday, April 30, is the second National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The Washington Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration and local law enforcement agencies, government, and public health organizations have teamed up to help people properly dispose of old medication.

This is an opportunity to legally rid of old drugs, which will be incinerated by the DEA. It is not advised to throw perscription drugs away or to flush them down the toilet, as that can contaminate water.

Three locations in Montgomery County will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday:

  • Montgomery County Police Headquarters, 2350 Research Blvd., Rockville
  • , Germantown

If possible, the labels and personal information should be removed or blacked out from the pill bottles, but he bottles will still be accepted if the labels are still intact.
