It’s a seemingly simple question being asked across the land by Democrats and Republicans alike: Are you better off than you were four years ago?
The answer is likely to have a big impact when people go to the polls in November for national and local elections.
It was a question that Ronald Reagan first asked to great effect in his debate with Jimmy Carter in 1980. (Check out the second clip in the accompanying YouTube video.)
Then, as now, the economy was struggling and a Democrat was seeking re-election.
We want to know what Maryland thinks. Are you better off than you were four years ago? What has changed to make your answer true for you? Let us know in the comments section.
My clients based has decreased - some small business have closed - some try to do in-house basic bookkeeping accounting work (good or bad they will prefer to save money now and deal with and audit -IF it happens- later). Downtown Shops in Annapolis - come to Main and Maryland Avenue- are closing, a few new ones may open (drinking holes) but many of the office or retail spaces are empty. Real Eastate - Annapolis Property Taxes are higher than DC. P T in DC includes trash (picked up twice a week, with BULK trash on demand for free up to 5 items). Annapolis house values decreased but the rates are increased, trash collection reduced and rate increased, water rates doubled. while the City gives permission to build new houses the market has the largest inventory (ever) so people either rent very low or foreclose. BTW the refeclosed properties in US has double. Someone mention LEAD in Annapolis if you are landlord is a NIGHTMARE- US unemployment is high - BTW how many people without job register ? - HIGHER than 4 years ago. Could the "other guy" have done better ... we don't know .. reality is that OBAMA (and you may like or not) was a product of the media. The majority of people who voted for him had no idea who he was before the media started chanting his vision for the future.
You and Frank should band together you liberals make no sense!
