UPDATE: Kensington Man Charged in Allegany Robbery

Updated, Jan. 14: The man arrested after a SWAT standoff in Kensington on Thursday is 23-year-old Brendan Orr, the Cumberland Times-News reported.

Orr was arrested in connection with a home invasion in Lonaconing, Md., in which police say three suspects entered a house, fired a shot into the ceiling and demanded drugs and money, according to the Times-News.

The other two suspects remain at large, the Times-News reported, and the victims said both were completely covered and wearing masks. 

Orr is being held on $100,000 bond by Allegany County Police after being transferred there by MCPD, according to the Times-News.

Original post, Jan. 12: Montgomery County Police deployed its SWAT team in Kensington on Thursday night, eventually coaxing a barricaded man out of his home and into custody.

Officers responded to the 3100 block of Edgewood Road at about 7:30 p.m. to serve an arrest warrant for burglary in another jurisdiction, according to MCPD. When the man refused to come out, SWAT was called and a 90-minute standoff ensued, police said.

At about 9 p.m., officers persuaded the man to turn himself in, and the situation ended without violence, police said.

MCPD did not say whether the man was armed and has not released any further information on the incident.
