Police: Jensvold Left Suicide Note

Sister tells the AP the psychiatrist was at her wits' end over cost of son's education.

Margaret Jensvold wrote a note before shooting and killing her son, Ben Barnhard, and then turning the gun on herself, a Montgomery County Police spokesperson said.

Police found the note while investigating what , but it is MCPD policy not to release a transcript, officer Rebecca Innocenti said.

Jensvold's sister, Susan Slaughter, told the Associated Press that Jensvold's suicide note details her frustrations with paying for Barnhard's education.

Slaughter also told the AP that Jensvold resolved to kill herself over her mounting debt, and then justified killing her son by referencing the trauma suffered by children whose parents commit suicide.

Jensvold worked as a psychiatrist at Kaiser Permanente in Kensington. Barnhard, 13, had recently graduated from Wellspring Academy, a live-in weight-loss program, and is as a funny kid who loved video games.
