"I loved my son and ex-wife, and I was proud of both of them. My son was a successful graduate of Wellspring Academy. He was featured on 'Too Fat for Fifteen: Fighting Back,' and lost 160 pounds in the last year, due to his hard work and determination. I do not understand this tragedy, and I do not know why this has happened. I will hold them in my heart, and they will be sorely missed by all who loved them. Please keep us in your prayers.”

The woman, 54-year-old Margaret Ferne Jensvold, was found dead in her bedroom, and her son, 13-year-old Ben Barnhard, was found in a separate bedroom, according to a news release from MCPD.

NBC Washington is reporting that Barnhard was a recent graduate of Wellspring Academy, a boarding school for overweight minors that is featured on the Style Network show "Too Fat for 15." Jensvold was a well-respected psychiatrist, according to NBC. She maintained a practice in Bethesda, according to an online listing.

Police came to the house on Simms Court after Jensvold's co-worker couldn't get in touch with her for several days and contacted MCPD, according to the release. Both victims had evidence of bodily trauma.

According to Maryland court records, Jensvold divorced her son's father, James Barnhard, in 2007. and she obtained a court order requiring him to pay child support in 2008. She also filed for domestic violence protection against her ex-husband, which was denied by the court, according to records.

Detectives are still investigating the incident, and anyone with information related to the deaths is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.

Correction: An earlier version of this story mischaracterized Benjamin Barnwell's involvement with "Too Fat for 15." According to his father, he appeared on the show but was not among its cast members.
