Police Blotter: May 30 - June 7

Police released recent crime information on June 15.

Montgomery County Police released a recent crime summary for the week of May 30 through June 7. Following are crimes reported for Kensington and nearby areas:

June 7:  A residence was burglarized in the 3100 block of McComas Avenue. Entry was forced with property and cash taken.

June 3-7: Thefts from vehicles continued this week, with multiple reports:

  • Vehicle parts were taken from a car the in the 2600 block of Pittman Drive, between Friday, June 3, and Monday, June 6. 
  •  Two vehicles the parked along driveways on a block of Campbell Court were entered by force overnight between Monday, June 6, to Tuesday, June 7. A purse was taken from one vehicle; nothing was reported taken from the other. 
  • Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred throughout the week during various times of the day in the Bethesda area, all with forced entry. GPS units, laptops and other loose items were targeted. Locations included the 4400 block of Montgomery Avenue, 4700 block of Bethesda Avenue, 7600 block of Old Georgetown Road, 6700 block of Kenwood Forrest Lane and 7600 block of Woodmont Avenue.
  • Multiple thefts from vehicles also occurred in the Bethesda residential neighborhoods of Burning Tree Valley, off River Road, and a neighborhood near Old Georgetown Road and the Beltway in Bethesda. GPS units, cell phones, purses and wallets were taken. Streets included: 5000 block of Park Place; 7000 block of Richard Drive; 7000 block of Amy Lane; 5900 block of Maplewood Park Place; 6900 block of Winterberry Lane; 9400 block of Old Georgetown Road; and the 8300 block of Beechwood Road. All thefts were from unlocked vehicles. 

June 6-7: Graffiti was painted on a mailbox at Whittier Boulevard and Lenox Road, as well as a Pepco power box in front of Walt Whitman High School, 7100 Whittier Blvd., both in Bethesda.

June 6: Graffiti was also found painted on a sidewalk in the 600 block of W. Lynnfield Drive in North Bethesda.

June 6:  A residential burglary was attempted in the 8900 block of Mohawk Lane in Bethesda. Forced entry was attempted but entrance not gained.

June 2: An aggravated assault took place in the area of Dennis Avenue and Conover Drive in Wheaton at 3:20 a.m. Two unknown male suspects assaulted the victim and fled.
