Pedestrian Struck Near Train Tracks

An unidentified man was hit by a vehicle and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries Tuesday.

A man was injured Tuesday morning after a vehicle hit him and he landed on the train tracks in Kensington, according to a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue official.

A female driver of a minivan struck the pedestrian, a man in his 30s, and knocked him on the tracks before 9 a.m., said Fire and Rescue Capt. Oscar Garcia.

"Impact was on the pedestrian right-of-way by the tracks near Metropolitan Avenue and Edgewood Road," Garcia said.

Dispatch was informed right before 9 a.m. and authorities arrived on the scene immediately, Garcia said. They contacted CSX to make sure that trains did not travel from Silver Spring to Kensington until after medics treated and removed the victim from the tracks.

The trains were closed from 9 a.m. to about 9:30 a.m. Garcia said.
