A Rockville man who reportedly fled the country after the 2010 rape of a pregnant woman at knifepoint was arrested after authorities learned he had returned to the area.

Jose Antonio Quintano-Claros, 27, of the 13100 block of Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville, was arrested for the 2010 sexual assault of a 26-year-old pregnant woman in Rockville.

Montgomery County Police say the woman was raped and robbed by two men at knifepoint in a wooded area along Veirs Mill Road about 12:30 a.m. June 13, 2010. The victim had just gotten off a bus and was walking along Veirs Mill Road when two men forced her into a wooded area and sexually assaulted her. One of the suspects had a knife and told the victim that they would kill her if she did not do what they said.

Soon after the attack, police received a tip that one of the suspects was Quintano-Claros. An arrest warrant was issued charging him with first-degree rape and armed robbery. Before the warrant could be served, Quinatano-Claros fled the country.

Police say Quintano-Claros fled the country, but investigators recently learned he had returned to Montgomery County, reports WNEW. He was arrested Wednesday in Rockville and police say he admitted to the 2010 rape and robbery. He is currently held on $10 million bond.

The second suspect involved in this crime has not been identified. Police learned ne went by the nickname of “El Brown.” He is described as a Hispanic male in his mid-twenties, about 5’ 5” to 5’ 6” tall, and weighing about 150 pounds. He has short, dark hair. A composite of the second suspect is being re-released.
