This is pretty frightening. I live about 4 houses away and think that, in general, this is a very safe neighborhood. A robbery in broad daylight, on a residential street? Worrisome.

Not so worrisome, Deb. Bottom line is that these things happen from time to time wherever you live. You just learn to realize that it is unlikely they will happen to you and move on.

Yes, this is worrisome. I'm not saying that you should hole yourself up, but the minute we start taking the attitude that this is no big deal and could happen anywhere, we're accepting that this type of thing is normal. It may happen, but it's not normal and it shouldn't be accepted as a minor thing. Likewise, an aggravated assault inside the Wheaton Giant may happen, but we shouldn't accept that as normal or the price to pay in a densely-populated neighborhood. I can accept that someone smashed my car winshield to take a $75 GPS. I can't accept that random tasings and assaults happen in my neighborhood and that they're inevitable, and neither should you. Thank you for seeing this as a concern and not just the way it has to be.
