Car Stolen From Open Garage in Kensington

Vehicle recovered in D.C. on Wednesday.

Montgomery County Police are investigating a Kensington car theft that happened Monday night or Tuesday morning.

According to police, the thief entered an open garage on Old Spring Road, found an unlocked 1999 Toyota Camry with the keys in the car, and made off with the vehicle.

The car was found on Southern Avenue in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, police said. MCPD did not say whether the car was damaged.

Police are asking anyone with information on the theft to call 301-652-0112. Those who wish to remain annonymous can call 1-866-411-TIPS or 240-773-8477.

MCPD is also using the theft as an opportunity to remind residents to lock their cars and garages, remove valuables from unattended cars and never leave keys inside a vehicle.

The "i before e" rule sometimes eludes me in this English language thing. Thanks for catching that, Linda!

@linda: A simple typo. Calm down. S ay SHEESH to the not smart resident -who left their garage doos open AND -their car unlocked AND -the keys in the car. Owner is lucky the theif/thief didn't try to get into the house and do harm to them or rob them or vandalise. Keep on Damian.
