Aruban Judge Orders Giordano Released Tuesday

Gaithersburg man is held in connection with the disappearance of missing North Bethesda woman Robyn Gardner.

An Aruban judge has ordered the Tuesday release of Gary Giordano, who has been held there since his arrest in connection with the disappearance of Robyn Gardner, the Gazette reported.

Prosecutors are appealing the ruling and, if they are unsuccessful, Giordano will be released Tuesday from the Aruban jail at which he's been detained since Aug. 5.

If the appeal is approved after Giordano returns to the U.S., prosecutors said they may be able to extradite him back to Aruba to face charges, according to the Gazette.

Last month, Giordano's lawyer because of a lack of evidence, but that request was denied.

Gardner, , was last seen Aug. 2 with Giordano, who told authorities that she disappeared while the two were on a snorkeling excursion.

Since then, people close to Gardner have about Giordano's story, and Aruban authorities have said Giordano took out a  on Gardner shortly before her disappearance.
