As summer is winding down, so is the Kensington Summer Concert series. Check out the Casual Musicians' Club of Garrett Park at 10:00 a.m. at the Howard Avenue Park. The event is free and fun for the whole family. 

Saturday, Sept. 18: Farmer's Market

Every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. the historic train station turns into a farmer's market. Enjoy a selection of seasonal produce, meat and seafood, and flowers from local farmers. If you're getting tired of Kensington's Farmer's Market, head over to Silver Spring and see what is offered at the Fresh Farm Market on Georgia Avenue and Ellsworth Drive.

Sunday, Sept. 19: Portraits of Nature Opening Reception

From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. meet the artists of the Portraits of Nature exhibit. The artists' work will be displayed through Oct. 2. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to all, but registration is required.

Sunday, Sept. 19: Wings of Fancy Exhibit

Visit the Wings of Fancy exhibit while you still can. From May through mid-September Brookside Gardens South Conservatory  features live butterflies. The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but peak visitation hours are until 1 p.m. To get a sneak peak of the exhibit, watch this video from Wheaton Patch.
