Trick-or-Treating Alternatives in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties

If Halloween is more of a trick than a treat in your neighborhood, try one of these choices from some traditional Halloween fun.

If you live in a condo, apartment building or community that doesn’t welcome trick-or-treaters, finding somewhere to have some traditional Halloween fun can be downright frightening.

Luckily for you, Patch has put together this handy guide to trick-or-treating alternatives in Montgomery and Prince George’s County.  

Montgomery County

Bethesda

Enjoy the Trick-or-Treating Spooktacular on Sunday, Oct. 28 from 4 to 6 p.m., with ghoulish goodies form participating mall stores.

Wheaton

Westfield Shopping Town Wheaton, 11160 Veirs Mill Rd., Silver Spring, MD 20902, 301-942-2516.

This Family Spooktacular will feature arts & crafts, face painting, balloon artists, and ghoulish goodies form participating mall stores on Saturday, October 27 from 2-4 p.m.

Montgomery Village

Lake Marion Community Center, 8821 E. Village Ave., Montgomery Village, MD 20886, 301-948-8082.

The Halloween Spooktacular Party is on Friday, Oct. 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and features a haunted lair and other scary fun activities. It is $3 per child ($2 with a non-perishable food donation). Parents are admitted free-of-charge.

Rockville

Thomas Farm Community Center, 700 Fallsgrove Dr., Rockville, MD 20850, 240-314-8840.

The Halloween Haunt takes place on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. and will have pumpkin painting, a straw play area, scarecrow making, a DJ, a magician, Halloween games and crafts and a friendly haunted house. It costs $2 per person.

Potomac

Potomac Library, 10101 Glenolden Dr., Potomac, MD 20854, 240-777-0690.

On Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 4 to 4:45 p.m., the Potomac library will host a free family Halloween Storytime featuring a “slightly spooky” tale for preschoolers and their families, plus a costume parade in Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 4-4:45 p.m.

Burtonsville

Sponsored by the Montgomery County Department of Recreation on Friday, Oct. 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the Halloween Happening will have a DJ, moon bounce, crafts, games, treats and other Halloween goodies!

Gaithersburg

Fleet Feet Sports, 235 Kentlands Blvd., Gaithersburg, MD.

Participate in the annual Zombie 3-mile Run/Walk which always gives Kentland shoppers a shock! The event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1.

Prince George’s County

Hyattsville

The Mall at Prince George's, 3500 E. West Highway, Hyattsville, MD 20782, 301-559-8845.

The Original High Energy Magic of Speed will perform his annual Halloween magic show at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, with mall-wide trick-or-treating from 7 to 8 p.m.

Laurel

On Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 9 p.m., The Tabernacle Church will host Family Fun Fest—A Halloween Alternative with games, face painting, The Great Maze, puppet shows and other entertainment and free food. Cost is $1 per person.

American Legion Post 60, 2 Main St., Laurel, MD, 301-725-2302.

The American Legion Post 60 will hold a Children’s Halloween Party on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m., with a costume contest, refreshments, arts, crafts and family-friendly fun!
