Storybook Parade and Birthday Bash for Noyes Library

Everyone is invited to come celebrate 120 years of
Kensington’s Noyes Library for Young Children on Saturday, October 12, 2013.

The event kicks off in front of Noyes Library with a medal
ceremony, followed by a children’s parade that concludes with a birthday bash
at Town Hall. So, grab your favorite character costume for your child and come
celebrate books! This is a free event and a wonderful way to support our
beloved Noyes Library.

The day begins at Noyes Library for Young Children (10237
Carroll Place, Kensington, MD) at 9:45AM with a medal ceremony for all readers
who completed a 120 book reading log. Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett
and Director of Montgomery County Libraries Parker Hamilton will distribute the
medals.

parade will feature costumed characters (including Cat in the Hat, Thing 1,
Thing 2, Fancy Nancy, and a Big Red Dog), children dressed as their favorite
characters, a fire truck, dignitaries, and authors Mary Quattlebaum,
(www.maryquattlebaum.com/Mary_Quattlebaum/Books.html), Laura Krause Melmed
(www.laurakraussmelmed.com), and Debbie Levy (www.debbielevybooks.com).

The birthday party at Kensington Town Hall begins at 10:45AM
with a cake, a magic show by Mike Perello, treats for sale, and children’s
authors selling their books. Families are encouraged to bring a book to donate
to those in need. Events will wrap up at noon.
