Week in Review

What Kensington news did you miss this week?

Police & Fire: Thefts of items from vehicles continued to keep Montgomery County Police busy; as well as an incident involving a man spotted sitting naked in a tree in Kensington. Meanwhile, a 26-year-old Kensington man was identified as one of two killed in a Capital Beltway motorcycle crash Wednesday morning.

At the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department, a one-ton piece of structural remains from the 9/11 point of impact at the World Trade Center towers was installed in the grounds of the firehouse, as part of a new Memorial Park.

Government, Elections: Incumbent Mackie Barch and former Councilmember John Thompson won the two open seats on the Kensington Town Council in this week's Council elections.

Schools: Rock Creek Hills and the Bethesda-Chevy Chase school cluster residents continued to voice their concerns about a proposed new middle school site during first facility advisory committee meeting on Wednesday. 

Editor's Notebook: Lastly this week, Kensington Patch's first editor, Jesseka Kadylak, bade farewell.  In her final Kensington Editor's Notebook, Kadylak announced her upcoming move to Philadelphia to embark upon a new Patch position; as well as sending a warm thanks to her many Kensington Patch readers.
