Pet of the Week: Sloane

Each week, we'll feature an adoptable pet from the Montgomery County Humane Society.

Featured animals are examples of the variety available at the Montgomery County Humane Society shelter and may not be available as of publication date.

Name: Sloane, 7-month-old female
ID:
A352218
Breed: Pit bull mix

Sloane’s evaluation shows her to be amiable, high-energy, playful, quiet, willing-to-work, and in need of training. (Hey! She’s a puppy! Puppies need training!)

Our evaluator says, “Sloane is a very happy, excitable girl who loves people. She also appears friendly around other dogs. Sloane is learning that ‘four paws on the floor’ earns her treats. Basic manners classes using only positive reinforcement training will facilitate her learning. Walking her with a harness will help teach loose-leash walking, too. Sloane is super treat-motivated, which makes training enjoyable.  Her energy level is suited for many dog sports, like agility!”

MCHS dog-handlers report that she still needs a lot of training, but would be great with someone who has time to work with her. She’d do better in a home that does not have small children.
