Green Ribbon Schools Awards at Board of Education Meeting

Montgomery County elementary schools in Gaithersburg and Germantown were honored for reducing environmental impact.

The Montgomery County Board of Education will meet for a regularly scheduled meeting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in Rockville to honor two schools that received “Green Ribbon” awards from the U.S. Department of Education.

Green Ribbon schools are recognized for reducing environmental impact, improving wellness and teaching sustainability. Two schools in Maryland received the award: Cedar Grove Elementary in Germantown and Summit Hall Elementary in Gaithersburg. (Visit the Department of Education’s website for more on the schools.)
