Giordano Ordered Held In Aruba For 16 More Days

Gaithersburg man detained in connection with the Aug. 2 disappearance of a North Bethesda woman.

The Gaithersburg man who has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of a North Bethesda woman in Aruba was ordered held for 16 more days by an Aruban judge Monday, according to a report by ABC7 and the AP.

Gary V. Giordano, 50, was arrested in connection with the Aug. 2 35, who went missing while the two were on vacation together on the island. Aruban authorities have said they are presuming Gardner is dead, and the FBI  Friday.

A court hearing for Giordano “was held behind closed doors Monday at the jail where Giordano is held,” according to the report.

Allegations of domestic abuse have surfaced against Giordano since his arrest.

Giordano’s lawyer, Michael Lopez, has insisted his client is innocent.  He has said there is not enough evidence to hold his client and that Giordano has cooperated with authorities, according to the report.

Giordano has not been charged with a crime.
