Cool Front, Possible Thunderstorms Headed Our Way

The National Weather Service is reporting that showers and thunderstorms could develop Wednesday along a front expected to bring cooler weather to the region.

The chance of rain and thunderstorms in Montgomery and Prince George's counties is for after 2 p.m. -- bad news for , which is in high gear.

Severe storms passed through Harford and Baltimore counties Tuesday night, bringing lightning, hail, high winds and tornado warnings. Baltimore County police caused by a lightning strike, in the Parkville area. There were no injuries.

But the forecast is looking up in this part of Maryland, especially for the weekend, according to the NWS:

• Today -- A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Tonight -- Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. Northwest wind around 6 mph.
• Thursday -- Sunny, with a high near 89. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph.
• Thursday Night -- Mostly clear, with a low around 69. Light south wind.
• Friday -- A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Friday Night -- A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Saturday -- Partly sunny, with a high near 80.
• Saturday Night -- Partly cloudy, with a low around 62.
• Sunday -- Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.
• Sunday Night -- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63.
