5 Things You Need To Know Today: July 1

Nice weather, real-time traffic and a man covered in question marks.

  1. It's going to be another sunny day in Kensington, with highs in the mid 80s and a low of about 66.
  2. Last night, in Bethesda, county officials hosted a public design charette to get ideas from residents on what kind of public amenities should be placed in White Flint as the area is redeveloped. Attendees threw out everything from dog parks to outdoor hot tubs, and we'll have a full recap of the session later on Kensington Patch.
  3. Yesterday was Jerry Weast's last day as superintendent of Montgomery County Public schools, and he was symbolizing the 2010 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
  4. If you're trekking out of town this weekend, be sure to check the state's CHART service, which provides real-time looks at traffic on Maryland highways.
  5. Finally, Matthew Lesko, he of the question-mark-adorned-suit fame, is your neighbor. We sat down with the famous Kensingtonian, and we'll post the interview later today.
