Kensington Workspace Offers Entrepreneurs and Telecommuters Something More Than a Coffee Shop Couch

SoGo, a “co-working space” founded by Kensington resident and business consultant Robin Thieme recently opened, offering a flexible alternative to working from home.

Why would someone who is self-employed, or allowed to work outside the office, choose to leave the comfort of home? One answer may be in a 2007 study by Network World in which 79 percent of people in the private sector selected “isolation, would miss interaction” as the reason they would not opt to telework.

The SoGo website describes its members as “largely independent and self-directed…looking for a comfortable, attractive space free of distraction and respectful of productivity.”

Located on Armory Avenue in Kensington, SoGo features a variety of rooms, including a dozen individual workspaces, a conference room, training room and reception area. SoGo workspaces are available by the day, with no long-term contracts required.

Wi-Fi, a Skype-ready flat screen, copier, shredder, printer, scanner whiteboards and a coffee and tea bar are some of the other amenities that SoGo offers.
