Fall Food Favorites in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties

Pumpkin-themed treats abound at local places.

With each change of season comes new food offerings—hot chocolate and hearty soups herald the arrival of winter, fresh fruit themed items ring in the spring, smoothies and ice cream-based treats are hot during the summer and in the fall, pumpkin products seem perfunctorily popular.

So where you can you find pumpkin-themed and other fall treats?

The annual arrival of Pumpkin Spiced Latte at Starbucks puts a smile on the face of many of their customers. Pair it with a moist slice of pumpkin bread, and you have a have a great treat. This year, though, there are reports of a shortage of the popular coffee beverage! Have you experienced a lack pumpkin spiced latte at your local Starbucks?

There are dozens of Starbucks locations in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.

 

Dunkin’ Donuts

In what is shaping up to be a battle of Cold War proportions between coffee chains, Dunkin’ Donuts is upping the ante on pumpkin and other fall treats by introducing pumpkin cream cheese, pumpkin muffins, apple cider, Apple Orchard donuts and Munchkins in addition to pumpkin lattes. You can also take their pumpkin-flavored coffee home in convenient K-cups.

Dunkin’ Donuts can be found in many cities throughout the area.

 

IHOP

You’ll flip over the pancake chain’s pumpkin pancake special – two pancakes with real pumpkin and spices and then topped with whipped cream.

IHOP has locations in Rockville, Gaithersburg, Wheaton, Silver Spring, College Park, Takoma Park, New Carrolton, Capitol Heights, Riverdale, Germantown, Bowie, Laurel and many other towns.

 

The Cheesecake Factory

From October through the holidays, The Cheesecake Factory unleashes its pumpkin cheesecake on hungry diners. You can even order a 10” pumpkin cheesecake online for $46.95.

There are Cheesecake Factories in Rockville, Columbia, Washington, DC and Annapolis.

 

Heyser Farm’s Spencerville Red Apple Cider

Colesville’s Heyser Farms has patented its own apple, called “Spencerville Red.” Each fall, they press these special apples and produce an award winning cider.

 

Butler’s Orchard

Well known as a pick-your-own fruit and vegetable destination, Germantown’s Butler’s Orchard has a full country store with fresh apple cider, pumpkin pie, apple pie, pumpkin butter and many more fall treats.

 

Miller Farms

Located in Clinton, MD, Miller Farms has a cornucopia of fall treats: pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie, pumpkin donuts, apple cider donuts, pumpkin cheese loaf cake, soft serve pumpkin ice cream, soft serve apple cider ice cream, pumpkin rolls and a variety apple pies. On weekends, the bakers turn out pumpkin-filled donuts.

 

Fall Apple Festival

Enjoy caramel apples, fresh apple cider, games crafts and more at Montgomery Park’s Fall Apple festival on Oct. 21 at Brookside Gardens. Reservations are appreciated but not required. Find out more about the festival on the Montgomery Parks website.
