Representatives from Westfield and Costco will meet with residents tonight to discuss the community's concerns with the incoming big-box store at the Wheaton mall.
The county has committed a total of $4 million to the Costco project, but upon the company hosting this meeting. The Council's resolution mandates that the meeting address the store's loading dock, delivery truck issues, traffic flow, pedestrian access, building elevations, storm-water management and the .
Adam Rosenbaum, vice president of KHCA, said in an e-mail to Patch that the association is optimistic about the meeting and wants to continue the discussion beyond tonight.
"As part of this initial two-hour meeting, we are asking for additional meetings to explore specific aspects of the project in more depth," Rosenbaum said. "We hope that Westfield/Costco will grant us more time in a good-faith effort to again make this the best Costco ever."
