Area Pools Accepting Visitors and Membership Applications

It’s time to breakout the swimsuits. Since there is a wait list at the Cedarbrook Swim and Tennis Club and the Kenmont Swim & Tennis Club (until 2012), is there anywhere to go? Well, we looked into some other public and membership pools in the area that may be options for you and your family:

1)      Wheaton Glenmont Pool —12621 Dalewood Dr., Silver Spring | 301-929-5460

• Hours:

June 14 - Aug. 22: Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. - 8 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday, noon - 8 p.m.

Aug. 23 - Sept. 6: Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. - 7 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday, noon - 6 p.m.

• Parking: Free lot
• Membership: Not required
• Features and Services: benches, playground, food/drink, lockers, restrooms, showers , snack bar, lawn areas, bath house

The Wheaton Glenmont Pool is a county-run pool located near Wheaton High School. The pool features several pools one main pool, one for lap swimming, one with two flume water slides and one children's pool. Deck chairs are available. This pool is a popular destination for area summer camps.

2)    Bethesda Outdoor Pool —6300 Little Falls Pkwy., Bethesda | 301-652-1598

• Hours:

May 29 - June 13: Saturday - Sunday, noon - 6 p.m.

June 14 - Aug. 22: Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. - 8 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday, noon – 8 p.m.

June 21 - Aug. 6: Monday through Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

• Membership: Not required
• Features and Services:  snack bar, vending machines and umbrella-covered service, bath house, lawn areas 

The Bethesda Pool is a public pool located on Little Falls Parkway. It has six lanes, a water slide, and a kids' pool. Facilities include a six lane, 50 meter long course z-shaped pool with a 25 meter course into the diving well; 1 and 3 meter diving boards, a junior pool, and a tot pool.

3)      Long Branch Pool —8700 Piney Branch Road, Silver Spring | 301-431-5700

• Hours:

Currently only open Weekends until June 15, 2011: noon - 6 p.m.

June 13 - Sept. 6; closed Fridays: Monday through Thursday:  1 - 8 p.m., Saturday, Sunday: noon - 8 p.m.

• Parking: Free lot
• Membership: Not required; Must fill out brief application form upon arrival
• Features and Services: snack bar, bath house and lawn areas

Long Branch Pool is a public pool that includes a 6 lane L-shaped, 25-meter pool, junior pool, and a tot pool.

4)      Wildwood Manor Swimming Pool —10235 Hatherleigh Drive, Bethesda | 301-530-0029

• Hours:

June 3, 6-10, 13-15: 1 - 8 p.m. (until public schools are out for the summer)
June 4-5, 11-12: 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
June 16 - Aug. 28: 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. (or dark)
Aug. 29 - Sept. 2: 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Sept. 3-4: 1 - 8 p.m.
Sept. 5: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

• Membership: Not required; Must fill out brief application form upon arrival
• Parking: Free lot
• Features and Services: basketball and volleyball courts, a snack bar, wireless Internet and movie nights.

Wildwood Manor Swimming Pool is a with a 6-lane pool, a kids pool, diving boards and a swim team.

5)      Daleview Pool —901 Daleview Dr., Silver Spring | 301-434-9555

• Hours:  

School months (until June 16): Monday through Friday, 3:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Summer months: Monday through Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.

• Membership:  Must apply. There are few spots are still open!
• Parking: Free lot
• Features and Services: private events, handicap accessible, restaurant delivery

just east of the Beltway off University Boulevard, Daleview Pool is a membership-based organization. In addition to recreational swimming, Daleview has a robust swim team, offers swimming lessons and hosts a number of parties each year.
