VIDEO: Strathmore's Artist in Residence Has Hometown Roots

Ted Garber brings his blues rock to the Mansion at Strathmore

Blues rock singer-songwriter Ted Garber, has traveled across America and is now returning to his hometown as .

From a young age, Garber was inspired by his father, the late folk-rock musician Thomas "Holly" Garber. Much of Garber's childhood was spent moving around the Washington, D.C. suburbs, from Falls Church, Va. to Elkins, W.Va. to Kensington, Md. to Frederick, Md., where he attended high school. 

His big break came in New Orleans where by sheer luck he opened for alternative rock singer-songwriter, Edwin McCain.

Strathmore's Artist in Residence program was launched in 2005 as a way to foster the careers of Washington, D.C.-area musicians by connecting up-and-comers with established artists.

Emerging artists participate in professional development workshops, create an education program and develop a Strathmore-commissioned performance piece over the course of a month of work in the music room in the Mansion at Strathmore.
