PHOTO GALLERY: Ukrainian Easter Eggs

A pysanka is a Ukrainian Easter Egg decorated by many eastern European ethnic groups.

Eastern European ethnic groups such as Bulgarians, Slovakians, Czechs, Hungarians and more decorate a pysanka or a Ukrainian egg as part of an Easter tradition.

These eggs are decorated by using the Batik method, which is writing on the eggs using melted bees wax. The wax is applied to the eggs with a kistka, or a stylus, and is usually decorated with traditional folk motiffs, using specific colors that represent different religious principles, such as faith, patience, purity and more.
