Labor Day Festivities Take Over Kensington
Paraders from Montgomery County marched in the 43rd annual parade.
Note from the editor: When I ask Kensington residents what town happenings are important to and fun for the community, everyone has mentioned the Labor Day parade and festivities. I knew our site wouldn't be launched yet, but because it is an event of pride for the community, I wanted to include coverage for our launch. We hope you enjoy the photos and video and share your own.
From politicians and high school marching bands to volunteer firefighters and antique cars, Kensington's 43rd annual Labor Day parade had something for everyone. This year's parade, which was held on Sept. 6, had 75 groups and individuals participating, according to parade coordinator Kara Sherill.
The parade route began at Plyers Mill Road and St. Paul Street. Participants processed to Howard Avenue and Fawcett Street. There guests could visit several food tents and try funnel cakes, Italian sausage, Philadelphia cheese steaks, hot dogs and more. Parents could purchase tickets for children to play on the moon bounces and slides.
