Where/When: The event will take place Kensington Town Hall located at 3710 Mitchell St., on Saturday, Sept. 8, and Sunday, Sept. 9, between 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go: Train enthusiast will enjoy a display of miles of tracks, model towns and steaming trains.

Pricing: Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children and $10 for families. Military families will be admitted free of charge with valid ID.

2. SILVER JAZZ FESTIVAL HEADLINING SERGIO MENDES

Where/When: Enjoy jazz on Veterans Plaza (near the Majestic Theater) in downtown Silver Spring on Saturday, Sept. 8, between 4:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Why go: This year’s concert also will feature Marcus Johnson, Bruce Swaim Quartet, and Elliot Levine.

Why go: Waverly Street Gallery debuts David Yano's Stroke of Genius for the 2012 fall season. Yano will talk about the role art has played in his recovery from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD),  Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Stroke.
